How ready are we for a woman to be President of the United States?
We're so incredibly .NOT. ready that we'd rather elect a wishy-washy male with NO Senate legislative accomplishments in his ONE term as a US senator. In fact, many of the bills he's touting from the IL senate NEVER WENT THROUGH!

Why Do Men Get It All?

Please pardon the venting, but I'm just sickened.
Disgusted.
Appalled.

It's becoming increasingly evident that Obama will become the Democratic nominee in June. I have done the research and have failed to understand why he's so appealing besides his glitzy speeches.

I stick by my opinion: he's all style and no substance. I had this prediction when the country went ga-ga over W. back in 2000, and I was right. I don't think this one will be quite the idiot, but I think he will prove to be disorganized and impotent. He'll be a feel-good prez until we actually realize he's sold us short on huge issues...like health care for EVERYONE. What the hell is he thinking, not including 15 million people? He gives the masses too much credit.

But what's worse, is that people think, "Oh, we're making history! He'll be the first black president!" But you know what? He'll be another in a long line of only MALE presidents. I don't give a shit what the pundits say. It's evident to me that America is not ready for a female president. They like to blame it on the sordid political history of the Clintons, but that's not it. It's an excuse. People are making excuses.

We finally have our first viable (and amazingly well-prepared and capable) female candidate for the presidency, and people are just glossing over her like an ant on a stick. She can't say being a woman in her current position is why people should vote for her, but I will say that it's one of the major reasons people should consider her. Not only is she more planned, she's way more experienced than that 1 term senator from Illinois (who, I might add, had NO real opponents when he ran for senate, so it was easy for him).

IF he manages to beat back the Republican machine,
IF he manages to go toe-to-toe with McCain,
and IF he manages to make it to the White House,
he'll have no idea what to do.

Yes. He'll have advisors.
That's what this current president had--look what we got.

But he's another goddamn MALE.
When do the women get to have power?
When will Obama get to have the same amount of high-scope scrutiny that Hillary's had this entire campaign?

She can't be too hard. She'll be seen as cold and a bitch
She can't cry or be too soft. She'll be seen as weak and ineffective.
She can't wear her hair a certain way. It'll be analyzed by the feminine police.
She can't wear a suit (Obama wears suits) without being analyzed and criticized about color & style!
She can't try to relate to the people. She'll be seen as condescending.
She can't be organized. She'll become a machine.

What CAN she do?

Obama can cry. He'll get more votes.
Obama can yell. He's assertive and commanding. Presidential.
Obama can wear the same damn suit and tie for days in a row and no one will notice.
Obama can relate to people. He's a sensitive new-age guy.
Obama can be completely disorganized. It's cute, and not a bit expected.
Everyone forgives Obama.

Why? Because he's black?

No. Because he's male.

Fuck the male species.
I'm sick and tired of them getting everything.

It's time for women.
It's time for Hillary.

Why I Stood for Hillary

I stood for Hillary today because her very existence in this campaign proves she has what it takes to be the leader of the free world.

I stood for Hillary because she refuses to give up on providing health care for all American citizens. Whether she is our president or not, she will continue to fight for that basic human right. This shows integrity, determination and desire to better people's lives because it's just the right thing to do.

Hillary is right. Politics is not a game. It's a means to an end -- and she has found a way to work within the system to improve the lives of New Yorkers all over the state. The proof is in the landslide win for her second term in the senate.

I stood for Hillary because, finally, after 16 years of waiting, I had the opportunity to listen to her in person. It saddens me that other people cannot see this, but I have never seen a politician open herself up to people in the way she did when I saw her. Her entire being projected an intense concern about how things are today for us. Not her. "This is the loneliest job in the world," she said. Why would she want it then? Because her political career has been lonely. She has been fighting for us for over three decades. And all for the right reasons. The presidency is not a way for her to get more power, as it seems to be for other candidates now and in the past--for her, it's the best way that she can help heal this country, this world...and us.

I stood for Hillary today because she is a woman, a mother, a wife. As a natural result, she knows the delicate balance women and families have to maintain every single day. She won't ever forget that. She won't ever forget us.

I stood for Hillary today because there aren't anymore surprises. She is the most researched candidate we've ever had. We know exactly what we're getting. What we are getting is a strong, sensitive, empathetic person, who happens to be a fantastically effective and-well loved politician. We are also getting someone who when kicked, gets up. She is still here fighting the necessary fight for all of us.

And the great thing? Her history of getting things done proves that she will prevail every time she goes to bat for us.

As Maya Angelou said so beautifully, "Rise" Hillary.

Rise

And we will rise with you.

Excuse me...I'd like to get off this planet BEFORE it self-destructs.

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Waterboarding is necessary though probably not legal, CIA Director Michael Hayden told Congress Thursday as Attorney General Michael Mukasey said he would not open a criminal investigation into the CIA's use of the technique."

State Package for Hillary Clinton

You may write me down in history

With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may tread me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I'll rise.

This is not the first time you have seen Hillary
Clinton seemingly at her wits' end, but she has always
risen, always risen, don't forget she has always
risen, much to the dismay of her adversaries and the
delight of her friends.

Hillary Clinton will not give up on you and all she
asks of you is that you do not give up on her.

There is a world of difference between being a woman
and being an old female. If you're born a girl, grow
up, and live long enough, you can become an old
female. But to become a woman is a serious matter. A
woman takes responsibility for the time she takes up
and the space she occupies. Hillary Clinton is a
woman. She has been there and done that and has still
risen. She is in this race for the long haul. She
intends to make a difference in our country. Hillary
Clinton intends to help our country to be what it can
become.

She declares she wants to see more smiles in the
family, more courtesies between men and women, more
honesty in the marketplace. She is the prayer of every
woman and man who longs for fair play, healthy
families, good schools, and a balanced economy.

She means to rise.

Don't give up on Hillary. In fact, if you help her to
rise, you will rise with her and help her make this
country the wonderful, wonderful place where every man
and every woman can live freely without sanctimonious
piety and without crippling fear.

Rise, Hillary.

Rise.

Democratic Passion

I started a blog on the Democratic Party website. I've only made one post so far, but you definitely need to read it. I quote something a very wise friend of mine said to me today. I decided it was important enough to take it directly to my party's website.

My blog, naturally, is titled "My Chihuahua's a Democrat."
Go to this site: http://www.democrats.org/page/community/blog/demchihuahua.

It's good to remember that while we may be rabid supporters of a certain candidate (as I am), when it's time to vote for the president, Democrats everywhere MUST remain united. Every candidate, with their own strengths and weaknesses, all represent and will bring positive change to this country -- something the Republican candidates do not do (if you look at the total lack of differences they have from our current disaster-of-a-president and his policies).

There is such a desire and need for change in this country. All the democratic candidates can bring that, in their own ways -- even I will admit that. Therefore, do your research. STOP listening to rumor and bashing and general underhanded propaganda. Pick your candidate, and then, no matter what, remain united united as a party. It's such an exciting time, but we could totally sabotage ourselves.
